Bobby Cunningham- 1972

A graduate of Spring Valley, Bobby Cunningham helped to build Spring Valley Athletics into what it is today in more ways than one.  A standout athlete on the basketball court and track as a student, Cunningham would later return to his alma mater to coach both boy’s basketball and girl’s track and field.  

 

As a student Cunningham excelled on the hardwood helping establish the newly formed high school as a stable in South Carolina High School Athletics.  He was a part of the 1971 and 72 teams which recorded the first winning seasons in school history.  He was named team MVP both of these seasons while also being selected to the All-Region team in 1972.

 

During his time as a Viking, Cunningham also was a member of the track and field team helping the Vikings 4X200 team qualify for the South Carolina Lower State Championship.
