LaRon Gordon- 1989

LaRon Gordon was a dual sport athlete for the Vikings where he excelled on the track and football field.

On the oval Gordon was an All-Region performer who helped lead the Vikings to region championships in 1988 and 89.  During these years the Vikings track team put together a strong postseason which helped them to capture the 1988 and 1989 South Carolina State Track and Field Championships.  During the ‘88 and ‘89 championships Gordon was a member of the 4X100 relay team that took the gold in consecutive years.

As a member of the Spring Valley football team Gordon was a standout running back for the Vikings.  As a Senior, Gordon helped lead the Vikings to the 1988 South Carolina State Football Championship.  Gordon's strong senior season helped earn him All-Midlands team and All-State team honors while also being selected as the Midlands and Region 4-AAAA Player of the Year.  One of Gordon’s greatest accomplishments was being voted by his football coaches as the 1988 recipient of the Student-Athlete Award.  Following his senior season he was selected to participate in the North/South All-Star game where he was the leading Rusher.
