Marty Simpson- 1990

Marty Simpson was a standout athlete for the Vikings lettering in football, basketball, and track.

On the gridiron Simpson was a member of the 1988 State Championship team where he kicked the game-winning field goal to defeat Gaffney 3-0.  During the 1988 season Simpson kicked a 57-yard field goal versus Eau Claire which tied a state record.  

The following year Simpson set a new state record for making 55 straight PAT’s while also re-establishing a new state record for distance with a 61-yard field goal.

Simpson was twice voted to the AAAA All-State team, 1989 USA-Today 1st Team All-American, and 1989 Parade 1st Team All-American.

On the track Simpson was a member of the 1990 State Championship team earning a 3rd place finish at the state meet in the 4X100m relay earning him All-State honors.
