Coach Joe Turbeville-1970-78

Coach Joe Turbeville was head coach of the Viking football program from 1970-1978.  Coach Turbeville established Spring Valley as a football powerhouse in the 1970’s leading the Vikings to region championships in 1973, 1974, 1975, and 1977.  He captured back-to-back-to-back state championships from 1973-1975 and finished 2nd in the state in 1977.  Coach Turbeville was selected as a head coach and an assistant at the SC-NC Shrine Bowl and the SC All-Star Game.  He was selected into the SCAAA Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Citadel Hall of Fame in 2013.
